A lot of times when installing the crank pulleys, you will get the pulley pushed on the end of the crankshaft and realize that the stock crank bolt isnt quite long enough to grab enough threads to begin to pull the pulley onto the crank snout. That’s where this bolt comes in…it is the same size and thread pitch as the stock bolt, but its approximately 3/4″ longer. The extra length gives you enough to grab the threads inside the crankshaft without the chance of pulling the threads out.
We strongly recommend the use of the GM J-tool (or other similar tool) for the installation of the stock or any aftermarket crank pulley. Using a bolt to pull the pulley on may cause thread damage if not done carefully. Please use at your own risk.
PLEASE NOTE THIS BOLT IS TO BE USED FOR INSTALLATION PURPOSES ONLY. YOU MUST USE A NEW GM CRANK PULLEY BOLT AFTER SEATING OF THE PULLEY FOR FINAL TORQUING.
